Discovery Communications and Snap Inc. announced a partnership to develop mobile-first shows exclusively for Snapchat.

The shows will include “reimagined” content from popular Discovery network properties as well as content created exclusively for the platform. Some of the shows will be entirely new concepts, while others will be inspired by their leading properties, such as Shark Week and Mythbusters.

As Snap Inc. prepares to go public, it’s clear entertainment is one way they plan to set Snapchat apart from competitive social networks. Strategic partnerships like Discovery will also help Snap pump up their advertising revenue – as part of the official announcement, Discovery reports the pair will collaborate to bring Discovery’s advertisers ways to use Snapchat’s ad technology and formats.
