The Weather Channel has created a new mobile app specifically for the Palm Pre and general consumers. Although the Weather Channel currently has a mobile application for the iPhone garnering high traffic, this new application is designed for a product specific launch. The Palm Pre is considered by some to be the Apple iPhone’s biggest competitor. The main difference is the Palm Pre’s capability to have apps constantly stay open, versus the iPhone which requires a consumer to start the application before each use. This technology ‘adjustment’ is why the Weather Channel created an entirely new application to reach more consumers on their various mobile devices.
