OneRiot and Taptu are targeting on-the-go news-seekers with a mobile app that searches for real-time news according to trending topics. For instance, if a big hurricane hits, it would be a substantial trending topic. Consumers can simply type the word ‘hurricane’ into the search engine and get what they are looking for without extraneous results. Experts believe real-time search will offer unique opportunities for advertisers in the future, but the mobile platform has not reached that level as of yet.
