Juniper Research has conducted a study, which found that one in every six people in the world with mobile services has a device with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology. NFC is useful in conducting point-of-sale transactions and coupon scanning from a mobile device to a cash register. NFC is growing exponentially in Japan, but it may take other parts of the globe up to four years to catch up. By 2014, NFC transactions are expected to gross over $110 billion.
