KFC’s new campaign features famously brown George Hamilton as Colonel Sanders introducing the creation of their very first sunscreen that smells just like KFC extra crispy fried chicken.
This very real sunscreen, with the delicious aroma that can only come from KFC’s secret mix, will give you extra crispy skin this summer. KFC has created a microsite for the campaign to bring people the entire experience. On the site, visitors can view the infomercial and get a free sample of the Extra Crispy Sunscreen (only limited amounts were available and, unsurprisingly, they are all gone). Hamilton ensures that “harmful ultraviolet rays bounce off your skin while the lovely fragrance rays penetrate it to give you a healthy chicken aroma.”
This campaign is silly and fun, and yet a very clever way to promote the brand by introducing a new take on a conventional product.
